Anyone who ordered a T-shirt and still needs to purchase them, give me a shout. T-shirts will be available for pick up Friday before the game or can be picked up earlier if time & schedules allow. WildBand Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning 09/19/2015

 

Welcome back Class of 85! The Wildband would like to invite everyone to join us for our Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, 9/19 from 8-10:30 AM. Tickets are $5 and it will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 1350 OR Turnpike. There is also the opportunity for Alumni of the Band to join in at the game. Come march with us!
Reunion Details--- 09/04/2015

OH, MY. STARS!!! The response to our reunion has been FANTASTIC! We are definitely gonna have a full house Saturday Night at the Comfort Inn Oak Ridge for the main event! Send in your odd & interesting classmate trivia to Dan Ping at gnip@me.com & bring along your RJHS, JJHS, & ORHS yearbooks to share with classmates.

A few people have asked about how to dress for the occasion so here it is... Dress to party & feel good!!.
How about a suit?--YES! A cocktail dress? YES-- jeans & a button up shirt? YES -- an awesome reunion t-shirt & speedo? YES! -- SCUBA diving wetsuit with snorkel? YES!! (if you're really into that sorta thing. It's all good) Bottom line-- dress the way that makes you feel the best. And if you want to rock out in your best 80's attire, feel free to do that as well! Black Chuck Taylor High Tops, faded & ripped Levi 501s, black Ozzy concert T-shirt, Wayfarer sunglasses, hair all spiked, teased, & plastered with Aquanet, & a Walkman!!! Go For It!!!!

Cash bar will be located out by the pool.

(am STILL searching for a 12 pack of Goebels beer for Cedbob...)

Buffet will be set up at 6:30 & the DJ will start @ 7:00 and keep us dancing til 11:00. (sorry, contract says music ends at 11:00) But that won't stop us from having fun & hanging out with friends--old & new-- until the wee hours. Quite a few people are staying there at the hotel that weekend....

Possible impromptu tail-gate before the Homecoming game friday night @ Blankenship. Football tix & T-shirts will be there for pick up. We will have a section designated for all of us to sit together. Got kids? Bring 'em to the game. I'm bringing 8 year old daughter.
Kid tix will need to be purchased at the gate.

About the pre-game tailgate

I drove around the Alexander today. (BTW - I don't care what they called it during the war or what the hell they call it now.) I'm not sure how many cars it can accommodate. However it can hold a few and there is certainly plenty of room to stand around and hold a beer. There is still parking along Broadway by the tennis courts. So apparently this is the place, unless someone suggests something better.

Also, I'm bringing my girls and we'll be eating before we come, unless you guys want to turn it into a full-on outdoor barbecue gourmet tailgate where people bring all sorts of food and drink.

The next question will be when do we show up and who brings what.

So I suggest that everyone put stuff in the comments and I'll keep editing this post to keep the current state of the plans.

Ticket purchase deadline!!!

Hey all!!

ORHS Class of '85 reunion is coming up in about 3 weeks!! if you haven't signed up on the website, it is time to do that. Reunion t-shirts are only available for order thru Aug 31, 2015, elither online or ordered by contacting Kim Cambron directly.

Online ticket orders through the website will end on September 4. You may still add your classmate profile after that date. However, tickets may not be ordered through the website after that date.

The absolute deadline for ticket orders is September 10, 2015. For ticket orders between Sept 5 & Sept 10, contact Kim directly.
All direct ordered T-shirts and reunion tickets must be paid for by that date. All headcounts are due on September 11.

Remember that other classes are invited to attend. Just sign up on the website or contact Kim directly. Encourage other ORHS grads to party with us. The more the merrier!!

Call or text your friends who are not on FB or who are still on on the fence about coming. Let them know that we are ready to party likes it's 1985 & we want to see them there!!

For any of you who don't know, Dan Ping is looking for stories about all of ORHS '85 folks. He's asked us to give him stories before the reunion. I'm not terribly comfortable talking about myself. However, I'm great with ANY of you telling him anything you might like about me. So email him at gnip@me.com. BTW - I'm sure he'd love any stories about any others of us.

Classmate Trivia with Danny Ping

Class of 1985, what cool things have y'all been up to for the past 30 years?

This is more than just a rhetorical question. During Saturday night's main event for our 30-year class reunion, I will emcee a trivia game about what some of our classmates have been doing.

And don't worry, this isn't a bragging contest to see who won the Nobel prize or who made the most money or who has the most prestigious job or who has the best looking spouse. We're all too old to worry about that crap, anyway. Besides, we already know Jay West Stacey Gillis Bentley, Gerald C Fritts, Kat Watson and Fabio Triolo are going to win all the "Best of" awards. 😃

No, I'm looking for fun, interesting, weird tidbits that will make your classmates say, "Wow, that's cool!" or "Holy crap, I can't believe she did that." (Btw Jim Royster, I said weird, not creepy 😜)

I recently emceed an event with a reunion group that did something similar. Some of their trivia included: One classmate drove the actual Trans Am that was in the movie "Smokey and the Bandit"; another classmate attended nine different universities before earning a single bachelors degree; still another classmate started a polka band.

It could even be one of those embarrassing things from childhood you prayed your classmates would never find out.

For example, did anyone know I took ballet for a year in 3rd grade? It's funny now (but not that damn funny Mary Johnson Petersen and Teresa Gick Sampson, stop laughing), but back then I was mortified to the point where I would hide in the backseat on the way to class so no one could see I was in the car.

Who knows, maybe one of our classmates had a crush on the guy who brought the Kerns Bread Merry-Go-Round to kids' birthday parties? (I don't want to start any rumors, but I heard Laura Hobson Hammons used to horde those tiny loaves of bread after parties 😝)

If you have any nuggets of awesomeness (and we all do!) and are willing to share them, please send them to me so we can celebrate the little things that make life so interesting.

You can even include some that are a little racier (we're all adults). Just understand that if you share something titilating, I'm going to say it loud ... on a microphone. And I'll probably write the question in such a way that it sounds even dirtier than it really is, though that will be really hard Kelly Sherman ;-0.

Again this isn't about status, rank or prestige (yes, we know you live in LA and changed your name from Benard to Simon Gunn, btw, tell Kaley Cuoco to Snapchat me). This is about getting to know the people we've known for decades a little better.

Besides, your kids think your stories are lame Cedric King, and they're tired of hearing them. Come share them with some other lame geezers who will enjoy them!

If you have something to share please send it to my personal email. DO NOT POST THEM ON FACEBOOK. That defeats the purpose and is useless, kinda like UT football Scott Lane (Roll Tide!) If there is enough interest after the reunion, I'll try to write all of them up and post them here.

For those of y'all who pre-ordered T-shirts thru the website, they will be ready in about 2 weeks. Please remind me in a message what size you ordered & I will make sure I have that noted correctly on my order list. Locals--- I can deliver yours early if you like. Just let me know! Not-So-Locals-- I can mail yours if your prefer or you can pick them up before the OR Homecoming game on Sept. 18. Just let me know.

There is a "front print only" option available if enough people are interested. Need to order at the VERY minimum 6 to keep the price at $19.00 each. If enough people are interested, then we can order the "Front Print Only" T-shirt as well.

 

MUGS: Pre-ordered mugs will be arriving in about 2 weeks. Same as above, if you want them mailed--give me a shout. Or I can deliver to locals.
There are 4 mugs for sale as soon as they are delivered.
There is time to order more before the reunion. Last date for re-orders must be September 2!!!

I can not guarantee that there will be T-shirts & mugs available for purchase at the reunion. These items have to be paid for at the time they are ordered so I can not purchase a large quantity up front. I will try my best to have a few available at the reunion. Please understand that I just do not have the funds to pay for these up front and then try to sell them, that is why I am asking people who are interested to pre-order them. 

If people do decide to purchase these AT the reunion & we can always place another order to be delivered afterwards.

Hi all,

We are 2 months away from the reunion so if you are planning to attend, please RSVP as soon as you can so we can start to get a headcount for the caterer and vendors.

Please understand that tickets are not available at the door. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event so that we have the funds to pay the vendors.

If you wish to RSVP and then pay a portion of the ticket price now and then the remainder a week or so before the reunion, that is absolutely fine.

I finally bought my ticket for the reunion a few days ago! :-) I don't know what took me so long to do it, since I RSVP'd a long time ago! If people are not interested in a T-shirt with the reunion info printed on the back, then I can order T-shirts with just the printing on the front instead as an additional option.
I need a minimum of 10 to order. Thoughts??

  I have NOT pre-ordered any of these front only printed shirts. I have only ordered the reunion shirt thus far. I though this may be a nice second option to have, BUT there must be enough interest to order a minimum of 10.
